During the Cold War, there was an animated short, black and white, that showed people's heads having a footprint imprinted on the backs of them, from childhood onward. The footprint symbolized the power of the state to "step on" people's individuality with its heavy boot, and make them conform.
It was drawn, not stop-motion. I believe it was Eastern European, though I'm not certain of that, and it was anti-authoritarian in spirit. I don't believe there was any narration at all. I saw it in the late 1970s.
Can anyone identify the film?
